Ashford Twins Club is a self supporting club relying heavily upon its membership fees, weekly subs any successful grant applications and kind donations from local businesses.

The club itself is run by a nominated and elected committee of parents of twins and triplets, and in some cases siblings. Assistance is given by other parents within the club with most members of pre-school twins meeting once a week on a Friday between 10-12 offering support and advice to each other, whilst welcoming the arrival of new twins at regular intervals, who do more often than not, become members along the way.

We have at present in excess of 40 members, consisting of families with pre-school and school attending twins, as well as some families with not just twins, but twins with a younger or older sibling; twins with both a younger and older sibling, and also triplets. In addition, we have some families with a twin that has additional needs.

Regardless of the current climate, parents of multiples face extra financial pressures but do not have extra help from the state as written by Keith Reed, Chief Executive of TAMBA (Twins & Multiple Birth's Association) of who Ashford Twins Club, amongst others, is a member of. Following a study "The Effects of Twins & Multiple Births Families & Their Living Standards", took even TAMBA by surprise.

With regard to finances, 62% of multiple birth families said they were financially worse off after their babies were born, compared to 40% of other parents. Nine months after giving birth, mothers of multiples were nearly 20% less likely to have returned to work than mothers of singletons. There was therefore a greater expectation that paid work would have to wait until the children were aged five and attending primary school full time.

If you think you or your organisation might be able to assist the club with fundraising, have any donations you would like to give, whether it be in the way of a prize for up and coming raffles and tombolas or a monetary donation, or by offering our members some form of discount at your establishment, then please do not hesitate to CONTACT US. A member of the committee is waiting to hear from you and to show our appreciation and to thank you we would be happy to advertise your company here on our Fundraising or Membership pages of our newly launched website.
